A Paper Plate 'English Garden'

Due to a little traveling next week, I'm adding a bonus post this week instead of next Wednesday ;) This adorable Paper Plate English Garden is the perfect summer craft for boys and girls ages 4 - 7 years. I made them with one of my classes this Spring and the kids really loved it!

What You'll Need:

- round paper plates
- green paint and brushes
- recycled cardboard {thick is best}
- assorted colors of pom poms, tissue paper, and card stock
- popsicle sticks
- glue, markers, scissors

1. Paint the surface of a paper plate with green acrylic or tempera and let dry completely.
2. Fold a square of brightly colored card stock in half and draw some 'shingles' on the sides with marker. This is the roof of your English cottage ;)
3. With markers, draw doors and windows on a thick piece of cardboard and glue it towards the back of your paper plate. Glue your paper roof onto the cardboard cottage.
4. Now it's time to plan your garden! Glue a popsicle stick in front of your cottage for a cute little path. Add some accents of marker if you wish.
5. Glue pom poms around your cottage and garden for bushes.
6. Crinkle pieces of tissue paper to form flowers or stones around your garden.
7. Cut out some blue card stock if you'd like to make a pond. Draw some little fish in your pond with orange markers.
8. Add any last minute touches to your English Garden and display proudly in your home this summer ;)

One of my 5 year old students made this English Garden... I love it!
